Day 131 : She walks 30 kms

Morning was a disaster. Her train is at 8AM. And not one of them have gotten up till 6:30AM. Imagine 10 girls getting ready with 1 restroom. I get ready by 5:30AM and that was the reporting time few of them to come help in the kitchen. Amma and a few cousins of mine who walked 30 kms yesterday are up at 4AM to cook for the girls. However she hasn't got up. The reason is one person taking accountability of setting alarms and waking her up. She missed and so did everyone else. I am fuming. This is a serious display of lack of gratitude and discipline. I have to yell or else she will not be able to get ready and walk. I am not very happy doing this however there are times where you must take stick to your hand.

Shilpa and I leave to Bethamangala to start walking. Its super hot from the first minute. We battle the heat and reach Venkatagirikota at 11:30AM. My legs are burning with blisters and sunburns. Manju gives me a massage and I feel better. We finish early lunch and head to Baireddipalle where we will meet girls who are beneficiaries of the walk. She starts walking and buys a few Made in China flags (Something I am quite sad about) on the way.

She was someone meet with an accident and helped the man get first aid and later stopped a vehicle on the way to take the man to the hospital. She was disappointed as many people refused to stop their vehicle to take the man to the hospital.

Many people brought her snacks and cool drink seeing her walk in the heat with the flag. No other year have people come out and supported the way they have this time. Maybe we didn't walk in such large numbers before.

We reach Baireddipalle where we met girls from ZPHS Kadapanatham. At least 50 girls are playing cricket in that school with help from coach Chiranjeevi. 2 have gone to the state camps and at least 10 have represented the district. The girls give us company for km as it's raining heavily at this time.

We finally walk in rain and dark to our final destination Kolamasanapalle. The rain has played a huge role in the walk. The muscle are relaxed and the feet has no burning sensation. As every year it feels sad ending the walk as the 3 days of this year is what we look forward to. It's 362 days for the next 8th annual freedom walk.

She has walked 30 kms while Shilpa and I walked 47 kms. While she is dead tired she has Frontend classes from Gagan and Surya until 12 AM starting at 9:30pm. Manju, Shilpa, Vani and I drive to Palamaner 11 kms from Kolamasanapalle to Palle Ruchulu to get food. We also pack Vegetable Biryani for her.
