Day 130 : She wants to participate in freedom walk

She is heads-down focusing on CSS and Javascript deep-dive. She is loving the classes by Gagan and Surya. Now JTD's strategy is to improve the breadth using in house mentors, then polish her interviewing skills by bringing an interview expert. The dates of the bootcamp has been revised to October 3oth by mentor Vani. She is hell bent on sending students out in employable state. Who am I to say no? Vani a JTD student herself has grown leaps and bounds in confidence. A meek girl has now become a confident woman. Would be quite exciting to see her growth as a leader.

At 1:30 She calls me and asks me if she could participate in the freedom walk. JTD is conducting freedom walks for last 7 years where we collect money through a fundraiser and utilise them towards Girls Sports Initiatives. More on that in a separate blog.

We are battling the rocky mountains and heat of Tekal (Kolar District). I would be lying if I say I am not missing her. However breaking of trust in any quantity is a turn off for me. Even Vani wants to join. So I budge. We think many things, then finally we decide that she comes to Malur for the night and joins Shilpa and I from VenkatagiriKota (Andhara Pradesh). VenkatagiriKota is 60 kms from Malur. Shilpa and I have already walked till Bethamangala ( Kolar District) yesterday. Tomorrow we will have 15 kms left to reach VenkatagiriKota.

I ask Devaraj to make sure she doesn't stop studying even in the train from Bangalore to Malur. Now is the final leg and we want 200% from each one of her.

Shilpa and I cover 47 kms and head back to Malur by 9:30 and she reaches at the same time. We play a few games to lighten the mood. Then we all had dinner together. There is some remnants of disappointment in her. However I advise her to focus on career first leave rest to time. We sleep at 12:30AM. Got to get up at 4:30AM and be ready by 6Am.
