We discussed the 6th leadership behavior which is "Expand People's Capabilities". The discussion went great. Most importantly the values needed by every team member that is energy, courage, honesty, integrity, loyalty and persevearance was discussed for a long while. Though it could look cliched they are very profound in your hiring and mentoring strategies. Last night I could sleep only by 1 am and with 4am classes had gotten just 3 hours of sleep. Went to bed for some rest. Around 12:30 pm started my ride. I was very hungry. Even though I had coffee in the morning, 3 hours of sleep had created a caffeine shortage. I ate curd rice, a jamun (Happily eating as burn them during the ride) and a cup of coffee. First 10 kms was a drag, lots of traffic towards airport and took me 45 mins. However something magical happened. I started riding faster organically. Slight habituation had resulted in better performance. Even mentally I am getting to a good state with workouts. Next 1 hour, I rode 27 kms. Went to the airport and then took a deviation towards villages and had a smooth ride. On my way back I ate lot of hummus and 2 pita breads. As I enetered into the city the traffic got terrible. Last 10 kms took around 1 hour. Got a little dark before I could reach home. Happy that I got 2 100ks back to back. Increases my confidence.
She stood for herself
I was interviewing this girl and everything went well. At the end of the interview, when I told her that she is selected. When we select we put the candidates either in Yes or Strong Yes categories. She was a strong yes. Generally students are elated once we say they are selected. However she said that she cannot join the bootcamp. Reason : Her marriage was fixed and she had somehow borrowed time until graduation and was not confident of buying in extra time. I spent next 5 minutes explain her what her life is going to be with a job and without a job. Made her talk to one our students who had a similar issue in the past. She left the call without a yes or no. Few days later I got a call from her and she said she is going to attend the bootcamp. When asked what changed, she said talking to the JTD student gave her the confidence. There are lakhs of girls in this country who face this situation. We really want to create some content and put it out on social media so that many such girls are motivated to stand up for themselves.
A new Story for tomorrow. Please support many such girls realise their dream of having a career and achieveing financial independence.
