Day 115 : She turns 50 (The 50th Blog!!!)

Well, I along with many weren't sure if I could sustain writing these blogs this long. Thankfully it has become second nature. Today I would like to talk about why we started this and what our future plans are.

The girls were selected 15 months ago after months of scrutiny. Each of them was cherry picked for discipline, dedication, hard work and values. Some of them were asked to leave very soon when they broke any of the rules. Finally the 15 remained. All 15 were actually attending a paid bootcamp. The bootcamp became so big that individual attention got diluted. Another challenge was classes were taken in Hindi. And our students could not understand.

An opportunity came our way where a company asked their sourcing agency to train our girls. It was a big deal. We at JTD were all happy as they were getting to train under A level trainers. And all dreams came crashing when the company selected ZERO students after the interview. This is when we realised we cannot delegate training to anyone and will have to take matters to our own hands.

And we started without plan and learnt along the way. After a month of HTML, CSS and Javascript we realised our students lacked basic coding skills. Spent next 1 month on Java and Data Structures. 2 months were over. Students started getting calls from home as when the bootcamp would end. Next 1 month we spent on Frontend Skills. And when they started their capstone project, we realised some project management skills were required. We introduced Scrum and taught JIRA. Now our students understand scrum at a very high level. They are implementing Story by Story which makes their implementation possible.

Today they finished their first story with unit tests and a Github readme file documentation.

She has come a long way. Now it's about closure. We will put focus lights on Backend and more DSA.

As a reader if you know any companies that could hire from us, please put me in touch.

Days Remaining Before Interview : 45
