There is a lot of nervousness today. For some reason she thinks she is not good in DSA. It's more of a mind-block than reality. She has to believe. 2 days ago when I visited her we ended up learning Stack, Queue and Linked Lists in a matter of 4 hours. Today I had to go to work and left home at 6:30 am and came back at 4pm. In the afternoon I suggested she divided 12 problems among her colleagues and solve 2 problems each. By the time I went home she was done with around 10 problems. The 2 left overs had some edge cases which we were able to fix in a few mins.
She looked jaded and needed a change of place. We came out for a cup of tea and happened to see Manju wash the car. The car had crossed 2 lakh kilometres a few days ago. We have to celebrate her achievements. I ask Manju if we could go to lalbagh and Manju never says no to me. she along with her 5 colleagues leave for lalbagh. On the way we prep her for the DSA interview. In lalbagh 3 of them get the interview prep help.
It's 6:30pm and security guard at lalbagh starts blowing his whistle to kick us out. She has skipped lunch. So we end up at MTR and eat our lunch followed by sweets and coffee. 2 of them finish their interview prep during dinner at lalbagh. Then we head to the car and the final 1 of 6 finish interview prep in the car. On the way back, she challenges me of having solved 2Sum problem in O(n). I challenge her that it is not possible. After coming home, she shows her code. There is a bug and I give counter examples. She works for 3 hours and brings bug fixed code. It's return statement in the place of the break statement that has done the trick. I am super happy. She is the successor to JCEP program. I wanted to announce it for a while. I hand over my 5 year Microsoft Award Crystal as a token of appreciation and ask her to promise to work for the welfare of 1000s of girls like her. She obliges. Fingers crossed for more such events.
